Sue Monk Kidd is an award-winning writer whose debut novel – The Secret Life of Bees – spent more than two years on the New York Times bestseller list, sold more than 4.5 million copies, and has been translated into 23 languages. Her second novel, The Mermaid Chair, immediately found its way onto the hardcover bestseller list in 2005 where it stayed for six months. She is also the author of three highly regarded spiritual memoirs and is known for her groundbreaking work in the field of feminist spirituality and theology.

David Walton, M.D. was one of the first candidates to be selected for the Howard Hiatt Residency in Global Equity and Internal Medicine. He has been working with Partners in Health since 1997 and is currently a resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He divides his time between Boston and Haiti.

BEHIND THE EMERALD CURTAIN is an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the megahit musical WICKED. Cast members Jill Hayman and Don Richard served as hosts for this event at Loyola University Chicago.
Actors Hayman and Richard tell the story behind the story of WICKED, which received 10 Tony Award nominations in 2004 and received the 2004 Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for "outstanding musical." Their presentation will include a behind the scenes look at the creative and complicated process of bringing a show like WICKED to a Broadway stage. Among other things, they will highlight what the over 125 people backstage do to make this latest story of Oz a reality eight times a week.
Hayman and Richard also raise the curtain on their own involvement in WICKED, discussing how they landed roles with the smash hit in Chicago. They similarly offer some musings on their own callings as actors, reflecting on the challenges and joys they have experienced through their artistic vocation.
